Hello! Thanks so much for reaching out!
I love this question because I’ve struggled with this as well, and I think that most bloggers do it in the beginning. When you’re first starting a blog you feel all this pressure to do it right and fit into this perfect category like “self-help”, “travel,” “spirituality,” or “beauty.” But I actually didn’t have my self-help and wellness category figured out until I was a year and a half into blogging!
When you’re first starting out you may have millions of different ideas floating around in your head, but you haven’t gotten deep into your writing yet. You haven’t figured out what your voice is and which of those million ideas you’re passionate enough about to identify with and publish about weekly.
If I were you, I wouldn’t stress out about your label at all. You will figure out the blog category as you go. Through many months, many blog posts, and much personal growth you’ll find what categories feel the most like you.
Also, don’t be afraid to have it be a personal blog with a variety of categories and interests. There is no right way to blog, a blog can be whatever the hell you want it to be. I also believe that humans are so multifaceted that pressuring people to choose how they label themselves is wrong. We are not just one thing.
Please don’t worry about the label. Just start writing about what inspires you and see where it takes you.
I hope this helps!
Wishing you the best,
